Mercedes pulled the wraps off not one but two muscle-bound AMG monsters at the Paris show – the CL63 and S63. Powered by AMG’s formidable 6.3-litre V8 that pumps out 525bhp at a screaming 6800rpm and 465lb ft of twist action at 5200rpm, the uber Mercs will both hit 60mph in 4.6seconds and are electronically reined in at 155mph. Given their flagship position in the Mercedes thoroughbred stable, both cars are naturally fitted with every single acronym in Mercedes’ safety, braking, luxury and performance lexicon.
Mercedes CLC to debut as Mercedes-Benz Concept Style Coupe? It looks like the new Mercedes CLC – a mini CLS based on the new A Class – will debut at a film and food festival in LA as the Concept Style Coupe. We know that a mini CLS based on the new Mercedes A Class is planned, and we know it’s likely to be the Mercedes CLC (or any number of other potential monikers including CLA and BLS) and will probably even spawn a CLC Shooting Brake version too.
New Alfa Romeo 1.8 litre turbo engine - destined for the Alfa 4C
Alfa Romeo are on something of a push to make themselves seem a viable part of the Fiat setup, with a plan to push hard in to America (although that keeps getting delayed) and new product on the horizon. One of those new products is the Alfa 4C which we expected to get a version of the existing Alf 1750 lump with around 250bhp. But it looks like that’s not going to be the case after all.
